  heatwave Friday through the weekend.

.DISCUSSION...

Seasonably warm, dry, and breezy conditions continue this week
thanks in part to a nearly stationary closed low off the central
California coast. While this low briefly triggered showers and
isolated storms in N.Lassen County yesterday, it will now usher in
a robust dry slot, which will significantly limit precipitation
or clouds for that matter across the region today. The driest air
will settle along Mono County into the southern Tahoe Basin and
western Nevada through mid-week, with PWATs falling to 0.10-0.20,
which is among the driest 10% for this time of year. As such,
expect poor overnight humidity recovery across the southern Sierra
and western Nevada during this period.

We will begin to see elevated to isolated areas of critical fire
weather conditions due to the combination of low humidity and
increased winds as the low begins to track inland through mid-
week. The best chances favor Wednesday as afternoon westerly wind
gusts approach 25-30 mph across western Nevada with minimum RH
dipping into the single digits.

Otherwise we will continue with our seasonable heat as
temperatures trend back to down to right around average by
Wednesday with lower 90s for western Nevada valleys and near 80
for Sierra communities. Above average heat then returns by the
weekend with highs returning to the upper 90s to near the 100
degree mark across western Nevada with upper 80s to near 90 for
Sierra valleys. Overall Saturday could be our first shot at the
100 degree mark in Reno this year. While not record breaking heat,
it will result in widespread moderate to locally major HeatRisk in
hotter Basin and Range valleys. Be sure to plan your weekend
accordingly, and practice your heat safety precautions if you will
be in the heat for extended periods this weekend. Fuentes

&&

.AVIATION...

VFR conditions will prevail with typical westerly breezes
materializing this afternoon. Afternoon wind gusts near 25 knots
through Wednesday may produce areas of moderate low level
turbulence and LLWS during the afternoon hours. Fuentes
